LaMontagne Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by a Boston-native artist Monica Nydam.

In a project that began with an advertisement on Craigslist for images of loved objects, Monica Nydam has compiled varied takes on a series of images of a chestnut colored horse named Minnie. The viewer observes Minnie alone in the corral as she gallops, trots and walks. The artist’s subdued color palette and use of blurr effect creates an imprecise feeling to the images emphasizing a nostalgic aspect, while at the same time focuses on the abstract quality of painting as medium.

Monica Nydam was born in 1984 in Worcester, MA and currently lives and works in Boston. She received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art. Recently, Nydam has exhibited in shows at Fourth Wall Project, Boston, Kingston Gallery, Boston, Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts College of Art, and Rhys Gallery, Boston. She is the recipient of 2010 Mass Cultural Council Grant in Painting.
