Luis Gispert HEADROOM

HEADROOM

Luis Gispert | June 17 - July 25, 2026

LaMontagne Gallery is pleased to present HEADROOM, a solo exhibition by Luis Gispert, whose multidisciplinary practice explores the intersections of American culture, subculture, aspiration, and value. Working across photography, sculpture, film, and painting, Gispert constructs visually seductive worlds that blur the boundaries between the familiar and the unexpected. Drawing from the visual languages of music, consumer culture, and personal identity, his work examines how desire, status, and cultural meaning are performed, constructed, and circulated within contemporary life.

In Headroom, Gispert extends the theatrical sensibility and visual intensity that have long defined his practice into a new body of abstract paintings. Borrowing its title from the audio term describing the threshold between clarity and distortion, the exhibition explores states of compression, expansion, and controlled excess. Through saturated color, layered geometries, and dynamic compositions that hover between architecture, circuitry, and imagined systems, the paintings operate as visual analogues for sound, pressure, and energy. Suspended between order and improvisation, the works create environments where intensity is continuously negotiated rather than resolved, inviting viewers into a space where structure and sensation remain in delicate balance.
